We love the Traditional Ballad so much, we’ll pay young people to learn and perform one at our Contest with CASH PRIZES AND CASH PARTICIPATION AWARDS!

The 2020 Traditional Ballad Singing Contest will be held on SATURDAY, February 15th at 7:00 PM at FIRST PARISH DUXBURY, 842 Tremont St (Rte 3A), Duxbury, MA

No charge for contestants, all others: $9 Members, $10 Non-members, $4 Children.

Main Rules:

Make sure your ballad tells a story with a plot and an ending. 

Make sure your ballad is so old that nobody knows who wrote it, or make sure your ballad is at least 100 years old.  

Make sure you sign up early so Contest Organizers Karen Haffner and Lynn Feingold can review and OK your choice of ballad.  

Here are the categories and CASH PRIZES for 2020:

Grade 4 Through High School

Solo performer WITHOUT instrument $50 cash prize

Solo performer WITH instrument $50 cash prize

Group (2 or more) WITHOUT instrument $100 cash prize
Group (2 or more) WITH instrument(s) $100 cash prize

After High School Through Age 25

CASH Participation Awards!

All contestants who do not “win” their category will receive a CASH Participation Award in an amount based on the donations we receive in support of the Contest.
