March 18, 2020 Announcement - South Shore Folk Music Club at First Parish Duxbury is canceling our remaining shows in March, April, and May 2020.  Refunds for advance tickets will be processed online. We have based this decision on CDC.gov and Mass.gov Coronavirus recommendations to postpone or cancel non-essential large events or gatherings to help prevent transmission of the Coronavirus.  It is clearly in the best interest of the health of our patrons, musicians, and volunteers to follow current state and federal guidelines on restricting large gatherings.  We are currently rescheduling our cancelled shows to our 2020-2021 season, and look forward to seeing our patrons, musicians, and volunteers next season.

Tickets: $23 Member, $25 Non-Member (register here or at the door)

When blues legend James Montgomery plays the harmonica, he “brings it on home”.  Whether it’s recording with Kid Rock, sitting in with Gregg Allman, or fronting his hot band of thirty years, Montgomery plays with authority.  While growing up in Detroit he learned first hand from the masters – James Cotton, John Lee Hooker, and Jr. Wells – at the legendary “Chessmate”.  Over the years, he’s carried on in the tradition and continues to be a vital presence in Blues as one of the most dynamic performers on the scene.  David Hull’s career in music spans playing bass with Buddy Miles, Joe Cocker, Ted Nugent, and Arthur Lee with his band Love, as well as being the studio and touring bassist and background vocalist for the first two albums of the Joe Perry Project, with several songs on the band’s first two albums co-written by Hull. In September 2010, Hull released a solo CD Soul in Motion, on which he performed guitar, bass and lead vocals. He currently tours with the James Montgomery band, and was involved in the album From Detroit to the Delta, producing the recording, playing bass, guitar and keys, co-writing, arranging, engineering, and singing backing vocals.  Paul Doolittle is well known on the South Shore as a dedicated guitar teacher at Crossroads Music.  He has played in several popular local bands, including his current projects with Rock Star Posers and Kelsey Gilbert. He will bring to the stage his accomplished guitar playing, knowledge of musicianship, and familiarity with blues music that is apparent in his live performances.
