We love the Traditional Ballad so much, we’ll pay young people to learn and perform one at our Contest with CASH PRIZES AND CASH PARTICIPATION AWARDS!

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT COVID - The Contest will be a Zoom event again this year.  We will send the Zoom link when you sign up, and it will be posted on our Home Page the week before the Contest. Groups please note: Zoom only supports one microphone or webcam at a time for singing.  So all members of your group would have to be together for the Contest.  Please only do this if you can stay Covid Safe!

Make sure your ballad tells a story with a plot and an ending. 

Make sure your ballad is so old that nobody knows who wrote it, or make sure your ballad is at least 100 years old.  

Make sure you sign up early so Contest Organizers Karen Haffner and Lynn Feingold can review and OK your choice of ballad.  

Here are the categories and CASH PRIZES for 2021:

Grade 4 Through High School

Solo performer WITHOUT instrument $50 cash prize

Solo performer WITH instrument $50 cash prize

Group (2 or more) WITHOUT instrument $100 cash prize
Group (2 or more) WITH instrument(s) $100 cash prize

After High School Through Age 25

CASH Participation Awards!

All contestants who do not “win” their category will receive a CASH Participation Award in an amount based on the donations we receive in support of the Contest.
